SELAH LIST

Joseph was, without a doubt, a perfect example of a person with a kingdom outlook.? His early life was one of going through one qualifying process to yet another.? Many orator preachers have described his journey as going 'From Pit, to Prison, to Palace'. This qualifying process however, was undoubtedly necessary as preparation for the extensive God given mandate that he had on his life.

So let's zero in on the breakthrough moment, which brought him finally into his destiny.? Pharaoh has had some extraordinary dreams concerning seven fat cows, and seven thin cows.? The seven gaunt cows devour the seven fat cows. The dream goes on, and he sees seven thin ears of corn, devouring seven plump ears of
corn.? He awakes in the morning, very troubled.? He calls all his wise men, and the magicians of the land, and no one is able to interpret his dream.? However, a fellow prisoner of Joseph, who has since been released, remembers Joseph's amazing dream interpretation capabilities, and tells Pharaoh.

This is where things get exciting.? Pharaoh calls for Joseph. He is brought hastily from the dungeon. However, Joseph takes time first, to change his clothes, and very importantly, shaves off his beard. There is more in this act, than making himself presentable before the king. The fact is, that Joseph is aware that Egyptians detest Hebrew shepherds, and especially find beards abominable. So strategically, Joseph is making sure that he is culturally acceptable.? Even a beard that had been there all of his adult life was not allowed to interfere with this moment of destiny.

We know the interpretation of the dream through Joseph, is seven years of good productive farming, which would lead into seven years of severe famine in all the known world.? Pharaoh has taken strict heed to Joseph's words, and Pharaoh makes Joseph, chief administrator of Egypt.? Why? Because Pharaoh has seen wisdom in this man, and has even been able to detect someone in whom the Sprit of God resides.

Joseph was God's made ready ambassador in Egypt. He possessed not only the enablement of interpreting dreams, but of being able to administrate the 'time'? of the known world in that particular season.

A week ago, I had the opportunity of hearing Larry Randolph speak.? He was teaching on the church coming out of the wilderness.? He was also saying however, that some wildernesses can be self inflicted. God allows at times, believers to remain in the wilderness, as very often, if they were let loose on the world, they could do more damage than good.? Many christians, are incapable of being able to speak into the culture around them, as they are unable to discern the needed word of the hour.

What a fine example we have in Joseph.? He knew what was culturally appropriate.? He would have just one chance to hit this all important target.? Future generations were dependent on Joseph getting this right.? The children of Israel would grow from merely 70 persons, to over 2 million coming out in the exodus.??? For Joseph, it was a quick shave, even this small gesture would make his words palatable to Pharaoh. Joseph had gone through many a qualifying process. There were times when as Psalm 105 says 'His feet they hurt with fetters; he was laid in chains of iron and his soul entered into the iron'. There came a day though, when as Psalm 107 states, 'For He (God) has broken the gates of bronze, and cut the bars of iron apart'.

Let's not be afraid of the iron, because God uses it to qualify us for administration.? The church must be the vehicle which will lead, and demonstrate the wisdom of God in all areas of life.? We are coming into the time, when we must be the head and not the tail.? Are you ready? It's good, and expedient to be able to be culturally astute.? God wants to openly display His wisdom through us.? Hallelujah!

Think on these things.

Blessings on you and your household

Janet.
